AMES, Iowa — Iowa Department of Transportation will open an online surplus auction Tuesday, Sept. 15, with cars, trucks, office equipment, shop tools and construction tools available for bidding.
Online bidding begins at 8 a.m. and the auction period runs through Tuesday, Sept. 29. Iowa DOT is using GovDeals for the sale.

Iowa DOT may add more items during the auction period, and individual listings can close on different dates.
Cars, trucks and equipment will be available during the auction
The September sale includes surplus cars, trucks, office equipment, shop tools and construction tools. Iowa DOT also lists tractors among the types of equipment available through its auction program.
The exact inventory can change as new listings appear. Each GovDeals listing includes the information available for that specific vehicle or piece of equipment, along with its individual bidding deadline.

The statewide online auction opens Tuesday morning. However, not every item necessarily closes at the same time.
Iowa DOT advises bidders to review individual listings because multiple items can have different closing dates during the sale.
