  • Wednesday, Sept. 23: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.
  • Thursday, Sept. 24: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

Southbound traffic trying to reach Penn Street will continue on I-380 to Exit 2 during the overnight closures.

Both Penn Street closures are also weather permitting.

Closures are part of the I-380 reconstruction between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City

The work is part of Iowa DOT’s larger reconstruction and widening of I-380 between the Iowa City area and Cedar Rapids.

The north segment includes reconstruction around the Wright Brothers Boulevard interchange in Cedar Rapids. That portion of the project is scheduled to continue through spring 2027.

At the south end of the corridor, the Penn Street interchange in North Liberty is also being reconstructed. Work there includes I-380 improvements and changes to Penn Street between Herky Street and Heartland Way/Kansas Avenue.

Iowa DOT says overnight lane and ramp closures will continue to be among the traffic impacts associated with construction along the corridor.

Drivers can review current closures and detour maps on the Iowa DOT I-380 construction page.
