Experience in housekeeping tasks and caring for the elderly or sick will make you a strong candidate.  We have about 10 spots available to hire now at $18/hr. Responsibilities
  • Ensure members receive their medication on time
  • Support members who can’t move on their own
  • Assist members with maintaining personal hygiene (bathing, brushing their hair and teeth, and applying skincare.) 
  • Assist members with mobility support
  • Assist members with cooking meals and eating according to the member’s restrictions
  • Help members with their shopping and assist them with attending events or activities
  • Do necessary housekeeping (cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands) to maintain a clean environment
  • Provide emotional support
  • Inform supervisors about uncommon events
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Youth Nutrition Associate Educator

Objective
Under general supervision, works independently facilitating youth nutrition programming in Polk County. Position engages elementary-age children in high-energy, hands-on nutrition, physical activity and cooking education. Educator also engages partner agencies to host education sessions as part of existing programming (before/after school, summer care, etc.). Qualifying agencies are those who serve children from low-resource families. Position interacts with small-groups of K-5 youth in school, after school and during summer programming to teach healthy living, cooking skills and physical activities. Works directly with EFNEP Program Assistants and EFNEP Supervisor on maintaining accurate data on clients enrolled in the EFNEP program.
Responsibilities
Includes, but are not limited to:
  • Prepares and presents lessons from a standardized curriculum
  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment for children to include physical safety and food safety
  • Engages children in high-energy, active information-sharing, hands-on cooking, physical activity and games
  • Conducts program evaluation as directed by using provided tools and following program evaluation protocols
  • Maintains appropriate records of participants’ progress and prepares reports
  • Builds strong relationships with agency partners which serve children meeting income eligibility guidelines
  • Makes arrangements for delivering education at partner sites, sets dates and times for classes, collects and organizes educational materials, and maintains high-quality communication with partners
  • Participates in regular supervisor conferences and training as scheduled
  • Models healthy diet and exercise behaviors
  • Promotes youth nutrition programming benefits and opportunities within the county
EFNEP Program Support:
  • Maintain the NEERS Database for the EFNEP Program.
  • Report to the EFNEP Supervisor about the Program Assistant’s progress.
  •  Print reports for regular staff meetings.
  • Enter data in a timely manner for the programming process to keep in sync.
  • Have food/recipe knowledge and able to make decisions from information provided.
  • Complete semi-annual statistical reviews.
Other Tasks/Duties:
  • Constantly improves skills, attends appropriate in-service training
  • Maintains confidentiality on all Extension business
  • Completes other assigned tasks, not limited to nutrition programs.
  • Follows all policies, rules and procedures as directed by the Extension Council and Regional Director.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, nutrition, adult, family or youth services, social work, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet, email
  • Knowledge of basic office machinery
  • Able to lift and move 40 pounds
  • Access to reliable transportation; valid driver license
  • Approval through the Child Protection and Safety Program/background screening
  • Ability to work flexible hours. A successful candidate will be expected to successfully manage their schedule including some evening and weekend meetings
Position Requires:
  • Fluency in English skills
  • Ability to keep accurate records and communicate effectively with a variety of people
  • Participation in required trainings
  • Reliable transportation on a daily basis
