Filmmakers Frederic Lumiere and Mark Hefti have announced the West Liberty premiere of their new film Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic, with a special screening, on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish Life Center (107 West 6th Street, West Liberty).

The Human Papilloma Virus HPV may be the most widespread, misunderstood and potentially dangerous epidemic that most people hardly know anything about, Someone You Love reveals just how dangerous this virus can be, causing six different types of cancers in both men and women. Following five brave women’s stories who are afflicted by HPV and cervical cancer, the film also interviews some of the world’s top experts on the most common sexually transmitted infection in humans: HPV.

Trinity Muscatine Public Health and Gilda’s Club Quad Cities collaborated to provide the Hispanic community with the opportunity to watch the documentary in Spanish. A panel discussion with an OB Provider from Unity Point Health, an Immunization Registered Nurse from Trinity Muscatine Public Health, a Cancer Survivor as well as other experts in the community will follow the screening.
