As the four-fight win streak of UFC strawweight Loopy Godinez (12-4), was broke last March, the Mexican-Canadian fighter was more than willing to get back in the cage as soon as possible. She will do so on the main card of UFC Fight Night on ABC against the highly decorated grappler, Makenzie Dern (13-5) this Saturday night. “I think the time to be active, the time to fight and the time to be doing all of this is now,” said Godinez. “I’m in my prime, so this is perfect timing.

Godinez figured a fight with Dern would come to fruition sooner than later and with both having a come-at-you style of fighting; she is ready put on display all the improvements she’s made since her last fight. “I’m excited to have her in front of me, “explained Godinez. “She’s a skilled fighter, she’s been working on her hands and we know she has great grappling. I have great wrestling and my hands have improved so much, so I’m excited to put all of that together with her.”

With UFC Noche just six weeks away, a clear and injury free win over Dern could set herself up nicely to be added to the already star packed card in September. “If everything goes well with my body and they ask me, I don’t see why not, “explained Godinez. And as UFC Noche was known to host some of the most entertaining fights of the year last year adding Godinez would be very fitting. “I never say no. Whomever the give me, I’m ready. This is my time.”
