What happens when creativity meets cultural understanding in the digital marketing landscape? For Dayana Hurtado, the answer was Supera Designs.
It makes sense. Hurtado has an eye for design. She first discovered her creative side while in high school, designing marketing materials for her parents’ Mexican restaurant. As the years went on, she took on social media and website projects in her community. By 2021 she realized she had amassed quite a portfolio, and hence her digital branding firm, Supera Designs was born.
Supera Designs specializes in bridging critical communication gaps for Latino-owned small businesses and nonprofits across western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. Two years after launching, Kassandra Rodriguez Hernandez, who had recently completed her degree in Entrepreneurship and Marketing, joined Hurtado and the duo have taken the firm to new heights. By providing bilingual, culturally nuanced digital marketing solutions, the firm isn’t just designing logos, they’re giving a voice to brands that have historically struggled to make in-roads in online spaces.
“We recognized that many businesses lack the tools to market themselves effectively in both English and Spanish, especially in the digital space,” notes Hurtado. Their client list is a testament to their commitment to keeping it local. It includes community staples like Heartland Workforce Solutions, Empowering Families in Scottsbluff, and the Omaha Michelada Fest. “The goal has always been to assist in building campaigns that reach new audiences, meet their objectives, and ultimately have a positive impact on their communities,” states Hurtado. “It’s rewarding to be part of their journey and help bring their ideas to reality. I also love the creativity and problem-solving that comes with each new project, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with amazing people and make a meaningful difference in their businesses and communities,” adds Rodriguez Hernandez.
While they enjoy all their clients, they are especially proud of their work with Casa de la Cultura where they designed their social media and website, and Unity in Action’s social media posts and videos. You can see the love and care they infuse in their work, highlighting the brand’s most beloved features. It’s clear they know what it takes to help their clients strengthen their online presence in ways that achieve goals, while maintaining cultural relevance.
Supera Designs may be a young company, but the women have been bringing designs to life for a decade. In that time, they noticed very few leaders who looked and sounded like them so they’ve made it their mission to create opportunities to train and hire more Latinos in tech in the coming years. They plan to collaborate with local agencies to recruit, hire and mentor interns to work at the firm. In the long term they plan to launch in-person and online workshops for Latinos interested in digital marketing, where they’ve seen a growing demand for diverse perspectives.
In a digital world that can often feel impersonal and intimidating, Supera Designs reminds us that the most powerful marketing can celebrate culture and open doors previously closed.
