As the temperature drops to record lows in this Quad Cities this week the fryers are set to high at the River Center in Davenport, IA this weekend in hope that’s the heat from cooking endless amounts of bacon will be enough to warm up the crowd at this year’s 2019 Bacon and Beer Festival. “This has been five years in Davenport, “said Jade Present’s National Director of Event, Courtney Ficek. “And it’s been a pretty good partnership for us.”
With new breweries like, Five Cities Brewing, Crawford Brew Works, ReUnion Brewery and Contrary Brewing Co. joining the “pig party”, festgoers are offered bacon inspired dishes that they can vote on as they make their around the River Center. “It’s always fun to see what the restaurants are coming up with in the food categories,” said Ficek. And we’ve added an extra category, Sweet and Savory, in Davenport so it’s always fun to see what people come up with because there is a lot of creativity with that.”
The festival is teaming up again with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley and a portion of ticket sales will be donated to the local chapter as well as music will be provided by Rock Island-based singer-song writer, Lewis Knudsen. “We want to remind folks to use their tokens to vote for the People’s Choice award for “Best Brew,” “Best Sweet Bacon Dish,” and “Best Savory Bacon Dish.” said River Center’s Associate Executive Director, Heather Brummel.
