Alien Boi Boxing and Calkins Sport Productions once again are putting on a professional boxing show for the true QC boxing fans.
The main event this Saturday evening will face-off two of East Moline’s boxing best. Gilbert Venegas Sr V Joe ‘Smokin’ Perez.
Venegas, Gordo as he is know to his friends and fans, is 13 years Perez’ senior and is set to prove he still has what it takes to win, specially in front of his hometown.
“The fans can expect an exciting Boxing fight by two East Moline Natives, one that is going to once again prove to the QC that I refuse to lose in my backyard. I believe my opponent will show his heart and determination that will result in my favor.” Venegas said.
“So yeah, action for 6 rounds or less. Fans shouldn’t want to miss out on that night.” He added.
The expectation from fans is high for this bout that will define who will be the rightful EasMo Boxing Crown holder.
“Smokin” Joe has a more quiet demeanor but he admits this will be a battle that the fans will remember.
“I try to stay away from who the best in QC is and those titles. I always remain humble but if the fans want to call it that, I don’t mind it.” Perez said.
“Expect two Mexican warriors going toe to toe. We both have huge fan bases and we get excited hearing the crowd cheer. It’ll bring out the best in us.” He added.
Old school fans have been very vocal in their support for Venegas.
“I’m aware he has a lot of support as so do I. Some of his fans are my fans and vice versa. To be honest that was a little concerning for me taking this fight. Some told me don’t do it for fear of losing some fans. I don’t want the fans to feel any type of way towards either of us after the outcome. There’s no bad blood, I respect Gil, but come fight time it’s him and I and we going to put on a show for the fans. We owe it to them.” Perez said.
Venegas is very grateful for that support and wants his followers to know “That always thanks for their support, and to expect fireworks come June 19, Gordo won’t let them down that night”
Venegas v Perez will be the main event at the “No Games” professional boxing show at the Rivercenter in Davenport, IA this Saturday June 19. Tickets will be available at the Rivercenter box office.
