It was last November that former UFC Heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez (9-1-0) lost his title to Junior Dos Santos in under a minute.  Velasquez is over that fight now

and on Saturday, begins his climb back up the ladder in the division as he faces former Strikeforce standout, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (16-3-0).

This will be Silva’s debut fight in the UFC.  He is coming off a surprising loss to now Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.  Despite all the changes at Cain’s American Kickboxing Academy camp, he is ready to get back to his winning ways. “Some of the coaches have changed, but we have great coaches coming in,” said Velasquez.  “We have an opponent and we need to get ready for him and that’s pretty much it.”

Saturday’s card will be the first time that all heavyweights will be featured on the main card and to make it even more interesting, Dos Santos will be fighting in the main event after Velasquez.  Having the man fight on the same card as you, defending what was once yours only a few months ago would probably be hard for most. It is not for Cain.  “It’s not a distraction,” said Velasquez.  “I’m fighting somebody else.  That’s who I’m worried about and that’s who I’m thinking about.”

People are done talking about the loss to Dos Santos and will now look to see how Velasquez has improved since last November.  “I want to go back to the fighter that I was,” explained Velasquez.  “I believe with the training that I have done for this fight, I am going to be that fighter.”

Cain Velasquez will face Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, at UFC 146: Dos Santos vs. Mir this Saturday, May 26th live from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada at 10pm ET.
