The Latino Museum of Omaha inaugurated the Traveling Exhibition “This is My Mexico” 2022 and 2023, a vibrant display showcasing the winning drawings and honorable mentions of Mexican children, aged 6 to 14, who participated in these editions. This exhibition not only celebrates the artistic talent of these young individuals but also highlights the rich biodiversity and natural beauty of Mexico, which are central themes of the submitted works.

Since 1997, the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME), a branch of the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs (SRE), has maintained and promoted this call for entries. The goal is to emphasize the importance of Mexico’s natural wealth and biodiversity among Mexican children living around the world. This effort has contributed to strengthening cultural ties and a sense of identity between young Mexicans and their country of origin, regardless of where they live.

Among the highlights of this edition is Cielo Ruiz, a young artist from the state of Nebraska. Her work not only captured the essence of the call for entries but also earned special recognition from the Consulate of Mexico in Omaha, which awarded her a prize for her artistic talent. Cielo’s presence at the inauguration added a personal and local touch to the ceremony, underscoring the connection between the Mexican community in Nebraska and the rest of the world.
