The Q-C Silverbacks Have Hands Full With Anacondas in IFL Semifinals


The Quad City Silverbacks will have to face the number one ranked team in the IFL, The Los Angeles Anacondas in the IFL Semifinals on August 2nd at the Continental Arena in East Rutheford, N.J.  The Anacondas have an undefeated record this year of 3-0 as a team and 11-4 in individual matches.  The Silverbacks are 2-1 as a team and 9-6 in individual matches this year.  The Anacondas are looking to vindicate a loss to the Silverbacks in 2006 and with the way they are fighting this year and with standout members like the undefeated Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki and the aggressive Jay Hieron they have a good chance this year.  The semifinals will also feature coach Ken Yasuda’s Tokyo Sabers taking on the Renzo Gracie’s New York Pitbulls.  Both teams also have undefeated team records of 3-0.
The Silverbacks-Anacondas match will feature at 155 lbs. the Quad City favorite Bart Palaszewski taking on Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki, who has been dominating his opponents this season.  At the middleweight class of 170 lbs. Rory Markham will take on the Anaconda’s Jay Hieron.  At the welterweight class, 185 lbs., the former member of the Wolfpack Gerald Harris steps in for Ryan McGivern and will take on the Anaconda’s Benji Radach.  “Mr. Harris” – as he is called because he is also a high school history teacher – is known for slamming his opponents, and should provide for an exiting match.  The former Ultimate Fighter TV show star Alex Schoenauer, who is originally from Argentina, will take on the Silverback’s Mike Ciesnelovicz in the light heavyweight division. In the heavyweight class Big Ben Rothwell will looking for a repeat of his 2006 encounter with the Anaconda’s Krzysztof Soszynski that resulted in a TKO win for the Silverback’s big man.
The Silverbacks are the defending 2006 IFL World Champions and as the competition in the league gets tougher they are looking to maintain their reputation as the best teams in the IFL.
