The parents of the 11 year old latino speak on the incident that happened at Adventureland

ALTOONA, IA  on July 3rd a family of six went to Adventureland amusement park. A park in Altoona, Iowa that has a famous ride known as the Raging River that has been around since 1983.

At approximately 7:35pm on July 3rd 6 riders on the Raging River raft flipped. A 11 year old Latino child died from injuries on the Raging River.

“When it flipped over, all of us were trapped in the safety seat belts,” said David Jaramillo the father of Michael Jaramillo


“I see the silhouettes of my sons trying to grab each other, grab us. They want us to help them. We couldn’t do it.” said Jaramillo in a interview from Good Morning America 


Adventureland released a statement on facebook following the incident 

“Adventureland is saddened to learn of the passing of one Guest involved in the Raging River accident on the evening of 7/3/21.   This investigation is ongoing and the ride remains closed.  Adventureland is working closely with both the State and local authorities, and would like to thank them again for their efforts.  At this time, we ask for your thoughts and prayers for the Guest and their family, as well as for our team members who were onsite” 

Adventurelands attorney stated “Safety is the number one priority at Adventureland, The Raging River ride has been in operation for nearly four decades. It is a safe ride.

There has been a gofundme page that opened up for the Jaramillo family’s tragedy, updates will continue to be provided as the story develops.
