After having to cancel their 2021 major fundraising events due to the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19, the committees of VIVA Quad Cities (VIVA) and the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GQCHCC) joined forces to create a safe and fun fundraiser named Mariachis and Margaritas for the month of August.
Today they are happy to announce the winner of this 2021 Mariachis and Margaritas contest: Verde Contemporary Mexican in Bettendorf is the winner.
Janessa Calderon executive director of the GQCHCC presented Brianne Choitz, the general manager of Verde Contemporary Mexican with the 2021 Best Margarita Award.
“I’m super happy that we were able to participate in this year’s Mariachis and Margaritas contest. It was something that really put us out there in the community and helped build our business being a brand new restaurant here in the Quad Cities ” said Choitz.
Jennie’s Box Car in East Moline, IL and Restaurante El Mariachi in Moline were 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
It was a very close finish as only 25 votes made the difference between 1st and 3rd place.
The purpose of this friendly contest was to market and highlight area establishments, while encouraging patrons to visit and to raise funds for local scholarships.
Ms. Calderon was very thankful to all the businesses that participated in the contest.
“Thank you to all of our restaurants who participated in this year’s Mariachis and Margaritas contest. Thank you to Jennie’s Boxcar, El Mariachi Restaurante, El Patron Express, Raw, Verde, and El Patron Restaurant and Bar. Your participation made this a fantastic event for our community.” Calderon said.
