The Asian & Latino Coalition endorses Sen. Kamala Harris

Today the Asian & Latino Coalition has endorsed Sen. Kamala Harris for 2020 Presidential Democratic Candidate.

Over 300 members of the Asian and Latino Coalition gathered today, or voted by email, to pick the top 4 candidates they would like to see as the Democratic Nominee for the Presidency in 2020.

The 4 finalist were Julian Castro, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Kamala Harris.

The board of directors of the ALC then chose the final pick from the list of 4 by majority vote.

Prakash Kopparapu, the coalition’s chair had this to say:
“I’m so excited. It was a very though decision given the slate of candidates but it was one of the best decisions we’ve made. Senator Kamala Harris she is out there fighting for everyone and I think the strategy, the team and communication she has put together, I think, are going to make it happen.”

In response, Harris said: “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Asian and Latino Coalition. During this campaign I’ve been lucky to have the chance to spend time with leadership and get to know members of the coalition. Their mission and values of equality and justice are the same values I am fighting for in this campaign. We must ensure that all Iowans have a voice in this caucus, and I look forward to working together to make sure that happens. I am thankful I will have the Coalition’s organizational strength in my corner as we head toward February.”

The Asian & Latino Coalition is a registered Iowa PAC. The mission of the Asian & Latino Coalition is to promote political empowerment and civic participation of the Asian and Latino communities in Iowa.
