Social Security’s remaining October payments are scheduled for Oct. 21 and 28, based on birth dates. SSI recipients will receive their November benefit early on Oct. 30.
Updated Oct. 15, 2026.
Two Social Security payment dates remain in October 2026 for beneficiaries who follow the regular birthday-based schedule: Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Wednesday, Oct. 28. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients are also scheduled to receive their November payment early on Friday, Oct. 30.
The Oct. 21 payment is for beneficiaries whose payment schedule is based on a birth date between the 11th and 20th of the month. The Oct. 28 payment covers birth dates from the 21st through the 31st.
SSI recipients will see two scheduled payments during October: one on Oct. 1 and another on Oct. 30. The second is not a bonus or an additional benefit. It is November’s regular SSI payment arriving early because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday.
The earlier October Social Security payments were scheduled for Oct. 2 and Oct. 14, depending on the beneficiary’s payment category.
Social Security payments on Oct. 21 cover birthdays from the 11th to the 20th
Beneficiaries whose Social Security payments follow the birthday-based schedule are due to receive their October benefit on Wednesday, Oct. 21 when the relevant birth date falls between the 11th and 20th of the month.
For most beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security in May 1997 or later, the payment date is determined by the birth date of the person whose earnings record establishes the benefit.
Social Security payments on Oct. 28 cover birthdays from the 21st to the 31st
The final regular Wednesday payment of October is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28.
That date applies to beneficiaries whose relevant birth date falls between the 21st and 31st of the month.
October 2026 Social Security and SSI payment calendar
| Payment date | Who is scheduled to receive it |
|---|---|
| Oct. 1 | October SSI payment |
| Oct. 2 | Social Security beneficiaries normally paid on the third of the month, including many who began receiving benefits before May 1997 and people who receive both Social Security and SSI |
| Oct. 14 | Birth dates from the 1st through the 10th |
| Oct. 21 | Birth dates from the 11th through the 20th |
| Oct. 28 | Birth dates from the 21st through the 31st |
| Oct. 30 | November SSI payment, issued early |
The birthday-based schedule generally applies to beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security in May 1997 or later, although exceptions exist.
People who were receiving Social Security before May 1997, along with certain other beneficiaries, generally receive their payments on the third day of the month. Because Oct. 3, 2026, fell on a Saturday, those payments were scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2.
SSI pays again Oct. 30 because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday
SSI benefits are normally paid on the first day of each month. When that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the Social Security Administration schedules payment for the preceding business day.
Since Nov. 1, 2026, is a Sunday, the November SSI payment will arrive on Friday, Oct. 30.
This creates two SSI payment dates in October, but it does not increase the total monthly benefit. The Oct. 30 deposit belongs to November, and there is no separate SSI payment scheduled for Nov. 1.
The Oct. 30 deposit also does not include the newly announced 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2027. The first SSI payment reflecting that increase is scheduled for Dec. 31, 2026.

Not all Social Security beneficiaries follow the birthday schedule
For beneficiaries on the regular Wednesday schedule, payment dates are determined as follows:
- Birth dates from the 1st through the 10th: second Wednesday of the month.
- Birth dates from the 11th through the 20th: third Wednesday of the month.
- Birth dates from the 21st through the 31st: fourth Wednesday of the month.
Different payment rules apply to beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, people who receive both Social Security and SSI, and certain other categories of beneficiaries.
SSI follows its own payment calendar and is generally paid on the first day of the month.
Missing Social Security payments should be checked with the bank first
If a scheduled electronic payment does not arrive, the Social Security Administration advises contacting the bank or financial institution first to check for processing or posting delays.
The agency’s published payment calendar also advises allowing three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security about a missing payment.
Individual payment dates and benefit information are available through a my Social Security account.
The Social Security Administration can also be reached at 1-800-772-1213. Automated telephone assistance is available in English and Spanish.
The official 2026 payment calendar confirms the remaining October dates
The Social Security Administration’s 2026 payment calendar lists Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 as the remaining regular Wednesday payment dates for October, followed by the early November SSI payment on Oct. 30.
For SSI recipients, the next regularly scheduled payment after Oct. 30 is Dec. 1, 2026, because the November benefit will already have been issued.
