The 2024 SAG Awards took place on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. This year, they were hosted by Idris Alba and it was the first time the awards were aired on Netflix.

Pedro Pascal, 48, took everyone by surprise when he was chosen among other nominees in the same category like Brian Cox, Billy Crudup, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew MacFayden. He was selected as Lead Actor in a Drama Award for his exceptional performance in the show The Last of Us. Since the show aired, the Season 1 finale drew 8.2 million viewers across HBO’s linear channel and digital platforms. 

His reaction is now going around social media platforms. He started his unforgettable speech by saying “I’m a little drunk, I thought I could get drunk” making the audience laugh. For him it was very unexpected to win, in between tears he thanked HBO. He says with excitement “Thank you so much!” He was open to saying that he was close to having a panic attack and he had to leave, demonstrating the amount of excitement that he had by receiving the award.

The Santiago, Chile-born actor has had a significant amount of impact on the community. People of all ages love him for his charisma in and out of the screen. Throughout his career, he has played extremely important roles such as Javier Peña in the Netflix series “Narcos,” and Oberyn Martell in the well-known Drama series “Game of Thrones” that aired in 2014, where he gained popularity. He went on to appear in the films The Great Wall (2016), Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), The Equalizer 2 (2018), Triple Frontier (2019), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022).
