“She goes where she needs to be,” Dora Brooks explained about the coming of Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos to St. Mary’s Church in Sterling, IL from September 28 to October 1, 2017.
This will be a fifth time that Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos comes to Sterling.
Mrs. Brooks along with Jose and Chuyita Ruiz Boites will travel to Elgin, IL to pick up La Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos on Thursday September 28, so she can be welcomed with a big celebration starting at 6:00 PM. After the mass everyone is invited for a gathering at Bales Parish Hall.
“It is an honor for me to escort her. This is a third time for me escorting her and personally I cannot describe how I feel. It is a special feeling,” Dora Brooks explained.
On Friday September 29, the day will start with a mass at 8:30 AM followed by the Spanish mass at 9:30 AM. There will be confessions in Spanish from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM. In the afternoon believers can join for prayers starting at 4:00 PM, followed by a rosary in Spanish at 5:00 PM and at 6:00 PM there will be a special mass for the sick.
On Saturday September 30, the day will start with a mass at 8:30 AM followed by a children’s mass in Spanish at 10:00 AM. The confessions in Spanish for Saturday are planned for 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM and the confessions in English will be from 4 to 4:45 PM. English mass will be at 5:00 PM.
