The ZBH Courageous Award is a $1,000 scholarship to benefit an LGBTQ youth who has created safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environments and communities.
“This scholarship will benefit LGBTQ youth who far too often do not have the resources and ability to attend a higher education institution they want to,” said Nate Monson, Executive Director for Iowa Safe Schools. “We want to thank Zachary Bales-Henry for his generous contribution to allow Iowa Safe Schools to support LGBTQ youth who work to change their schools and communities.”
“I am proud to help youth who may not have been able to attend college and have worked to create safe schools and communities,” said Zachary Bales-Henry, founder of the ZBH Courageous Award. “I hope this will encourage youth to speak out against bullying and affirm a youth in who they are regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.”
The ZBH Courageous Award application is now available at www.iowasafeschools.org. The deadline to apply is April 14, 2017 with awards being given in May 2017.
