Mercado on Fifth kicked off on August 26 and has since brought a very nice neighborhood gathering kind of feeling to Friday nights right outside the Boys & Girls Teen Center on 12th street and 5th Avenue.

“It’s great to have a place where people can get together to enjoy a variety of food, music and just see what different businesses/people have to offer.” said Marina Varela a former long time resident of the Floreciente neighborhood.

“Our community needed something positive to bring us together and what better way of doing it on a Friday night when we all could use a break from working all week. It would be nice to have more local Mexican bands and restaurants present.” Varela added.mercado-2

And that is precisely what is in the plans for Mercado on Fifth.
