
The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Vasquez as Executive Director. During his tenure, Mr. Vasquez will
implement the Chamber’s Strategic Plan, promote business and fund development, and help GQCHCC members build capacity through training and technical assistance.
Mr. Vasquez has been a member of the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce and graduate of the Chamber Leadership Program. He also served as President of the Chamber Leadership AlumniGroup.
Bob Ontiveros, Chairman and Founder of The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce stated, “Having Lee’s experience and expertise will continue the tremendous growth of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber. We are very fortunate to have him on board.”
Mr. Vasquez earned his B.A. in Business/Economics at Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska.
He spent over 12 years at the University of Iowa working within the Business Services Department
and 4 years as the Director of Auxiliary Services at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During his tenure at the University, he served as Co-Chair of the Council on the Status of Latinos. A university organization that was started to create an environment that addressed the needs and concerns of Latino faculty, staff and students. And, he was a long time member of the
University Diversity Council that reported directly to the President of the University. He served as the 2005-2006 National President for the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS). The NACAS membership is comprised of over 900 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada and several foreign countries.
Founded in October 2008, the Chamber has grown to nearly 200 members. The Chamber’s office is located at 511 17th Street, Moline, Illinois. The Chamber was recently named the winner of the 2012
Small Hispanic Chamber of the Year by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at its national convention.
Mr. Vasquez said, “I look forward to working with the dedicated, talented Board and Mr. Ontiveros to further develop our partnerships and regional economic impact.
