Community 1st Credit Union has officially become the first credit union in Iowa to receive the prestigious designation “Juntos Avanzamos” (Together We Advance) that is granted to credit unions that make significant efforts in serving the Hispanic community where they operate.
The Consul Guadalupe Sanchez Salazar was also present at this celebration.
Mexico’s consulate in Omaha signed a memorandum of understanding with Community 1st Credit Union last month to work together for the benefit of Mexican nationals living in the state of Iowa.
The Consulate of Mexico and Community 1st Credit Union will hold two financial literacy workshops to educate Mexican citizens on various topics of interest like buying a home, savings and more The first workshop will be held on Saturday July 23 in Ottumwa; and the second will be on October 15 in Cedar Rapids.
