IL Senate approves driven licenses for undocumented immigrants

This year might end with good news for undocumented immigrants who reside in the estate of Illinois. On Tuesday

the Illinois Senate approved measures 41 to 14 of a plan that would allow undocumented immigrants to get their driving license. Now the plan is on its way to the House.

According to new legislature undocumented immigrants will be able to take driving test and buy insurance without fear of being deported. Driver’s license of undocumented immigrants could not be used to board a plane and it cannot be presented as voter’s identification.

It is estimated that there are 250,000 undocumented immigrants driving in Illinois without a license. The supporters of this plan assure that it will help maintain the streets safe and it will save money. The opponents of this plan ask federal government to do something about comprehensive immigration reform.
