The state of Ill. increased its minimum wage by a dollar on July 1, 2007. The new minimum wage is $7.50 and the new minimum wage will increase by twenty five cents each year for three years to $8.25 in 2010. A full time employee making
$7.50 an hour would make $15,600 annually before taxes.
The federal minimum wage was $5.15 for ten years but will be going up to $5.85 on July 25th. The federal minimum wage will also rise partially each year to $7.25 by July 2009.
