Miletich Fighting System’s Ryan McGivern won the Middleweight championship belt upsetting Team Quests Matt Horwich as the International Fight Leagues 2008 season went underway at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fans on hand in Sin City were treated to 3 Championship Bouts for the evening, as well as many other fights.
McGivern won a unanimous decision over Horowich after both fighters fought through near fight-ending arm bars and strikes. Bettendorf’s, Ryan McGivern stepped in to fight Horowich after Tim Kennedy had military obligations to meet.
Heavyweight Champion Roy Nelson out of Ken Shamrocks Lion’s Den defended and kept his belt after knocking out Fabiano Scherner of Tem Quest in the first round.
Lightweight Ryan “The Lion” Schultz, also retained his belt securing a unanimous decision over the Lions Den’s John Gunderson.
The IFL will be at The Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 4th, 2008 where Bettendorf Iowa’s, Miletich Fighting System takes on American Top Team, as well as 3 more championship fights with the welterweight, heavyweight and featherweight belts all being up for grabs.
