The East Moline Independence Day Parade and Fiesta is back. This year it will be on Sunday, September 19th with the parade kicking off the celebration at noon.
LULAC Davenport Council #10 and Moline Council # 5285 invite members of the Quad Cities community and its surrounding areas to enjoy a fun afternoon in downtown East Moline celebrating Mexican Independence Day with a parade and Fiesta.
The parade will start at 12:00 PM on 3rd street. From 3rd Street it will move on to 10th Street and continue on 13th Avenue. After the Parade join a Fiesta at Runner’s Park parking lot located at 13th Avenue. The fiesta will start at 2:00 PM until 9:30 PM. Grupo Instinto, Grupo Fantasia and DJ Chip Lopez will entertain the crowds with music. There will be performances by the Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico and Danza Asuncion from St. Anthony’s Church in Davenport, IA. There will be food vendors as well. Also, during this event expect the presentation of the LULAC Council 10 Queen and court.
This year organizers of this event are planning to give out the 2021 Community Awards.
“We will be giving 2021 Community Awards to recognize Excellence in Journalism and Broadcasting,” Juanita Zertuche, one of the organizers of this event, stated. “We want to acknowledge the dedication and leadership during Covid to get the key information to our communities. It will be a message of gratitude to all those that helped get us to where we are today.”
