It’s been three years since East Moline native, Joe Perez packed his gloves and moved to California searching for the bigger and brighter lights in boxing. And on Saturday, October 15th, he will make his return to the Quad Cities to fight in the Ballroom Bash at the historic Danceland Ballroom in Davenport, IA. “I miss home,” said Perez. “I can hear the crowd cheering already.”

Perez will face Andre Wilson, a 14-11 southpaw from Missouri in the co-main event of the night. This fight will also be for the Midwest Featherweight title and neither that nor having seen Wilson fight his teammate prior to this fight seems to faze Perez at all. “He started off strong with twelve knockouts,” said Perez. “And just because my teammate beat him, doesn’t mean I will. I’ve got to be prepared for what he brings.”
As boxing has always been a staple in the Quad Cities, Perez knows that cards stay alive because of the fans in the area but especially because of promoters like Phil Armer, Clint Calkins and Jesse Gomez. And even as he is leaving the QC just as quickly as he will arrive for this fight, Perez knows that it may not be long before he is back to his hometown, fighting where it all started for him. “I’d love to come back,” said Perez. “Hopefully we get this win. I just want to stay busy and keep fighting.”
