GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Nov. 16, 2021) – It’s time to stock up on winter mittens and hot cocoa in preparation for the outdoor Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines. The outdoor Winter Market will take place in the Historic Court District on Court Avenue and surrounding streets in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) for the first time this Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The festive open-air street market will be filled with unique gift shopping, live music, hot cocoa and apple cider, and warming stations. There will also be an ornament-making station on-site for attendees of all ages to enjoy.
Over 70 Market vendors will have seasonal local produce, meat, cheese, eggs, jam, jelly, salsa and many other varieties of value-added farm food and local art available for purchase. There will also be breakfast and lunch street food options on-site. See a full list of vendors on The Market’s website.
“We are excited to host The Winter Market in a location that will be familiar for Saturday Market-goers in the Historic Court District,” said Kelly Foss, Director of the Downtown Farmers’ Market. “As you prepare for Thanksgiving and winter holidays, we encourage you to look to local vendors for food to share at holiday gatherings and gifts for family and friends.”
The Winter Market is free and open to the public. The outdoor location will help ensure a safe environment conducive to social distancing. A second Winter Market is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4. Learn more at desmoinesfarmersmarket.com.
