“When you listen to this Springsteen song it sounds very upbeat because of the rhythm, but when I started to read the lyrics closely to make the Spanish adaptation, I realized that it has a profound and vulnerable message. That’s why I decided to present this version in more of a folk style, softer, slower, more intimate. This song has a lot to do with my sister Mara because she had a boyfriend that introduced me to all of this American music. In the ‘80s, when I was 13 or 14 years old, he traveled to the United States and brought vinyls back to Medellin…and this song, ‘Dancing in the Dark,’ was very popular, and I liked to watch the video to listen to Bruce Springsteen’s big voice and see him dance,” JUANES shares.
