-Atlante’s Ovalle, a hero

Clemente Ovalle had only scored two goals in his entire career, his third ever goal gave Atlante, the championship. Atlante ended up winning the game and the two leg series over Pumas 2-1.
The first game ended in a tie and the championship would be decided in the second leg. Venezuelan national, Giancarlo Maldonado scored a goal by his teammates helping move the defense to the side in the 59th minute giving Atlante the 1-0 lead with a simple goal.
Pumas tied the match 1-1, after scoring ten minutes later when substitute Ismael Iñiguez scored on a header from rebound of the post. Twenty minutes were left in the game and it wasn’t until the 86th minute that Celemente Ovalle was able to give Atlante its third title in the team’s history.
Pumas suffered another loss, this week as Hector Moreno was transferred on a 4 ½ year contract to AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands. He becomes the fifth Mexican defender that is playing in Europe after Rafa Marquez (FC Barcelona, Spain), Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), Aaron Galindo (Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany), and Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart, Germany).
