QUAD CITIES — Families and individuals who need groceries can find free food pantries throughout Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, Rock Island and East Moline, but hours and eligibility rules vary by location.
Some pantries are open several days each week and allow regular visits. Others serve only particular neighborhoods or residents of one state. A few ask visitors to bring photo identification and proof of address.

NorthPark pantry serves Iowa residents once a week
River Bend Food Bank operates its NorthPark Mall Food Pantry at 320 W. Kimberly Road, Suite 328, in Davenport.
The pantry is open Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Guests must use the River Bend mall pantry located in the state where they live. That means NorthPark serves Iowa residents, while Illinois residents should use SouthPark in Moline. Guests may visit one of the mall pantries once per week.

Friendly House asks for photo ID and proof of a Davenport address
Friendly House operates a food pantry at 1221 N. Myrtle St. in Davenport from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The pantry serves residents within its designated Davenport service area. Visitors are asked to bring photo identification and proof of their current address, such as a utility bill or rent receipt.

Bettendorf Ecumenical Food Pantry serves a defined area once a month
The Bettendorf Ecumenical Food Pantry is located inside the Bettendorf Community Center at 2204 Grant St. The pantry entrance is at the back of the building.
Hours are 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The pantry serves people living in Bettendorf east of 18th Street as well as Iowa residents east of the Quad Cities. Clients can generally visit once per month.
Because the pantry is part of the Churches United network, visitors should bring identification and recent proof of address. Churches United provides food on a first visit without a referral when the person lives within the pantry’s service area. Someone who needs another emergency distribution within 30 days may need a referral from a caseworker, pastor, school nurse or counselor.

YouthHope offers groceries as frequently as needed in Moline
YouthHope’s Food Pantry at 3928 12th Ave. in Moline is open Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.
The pantry is open to anyone in need and provides free groceries as well as paper products and hygiene supplies when available. YouthHope says families and individuals may use the pantry as frequently as needed.

St. Mary’s Food Pantry has bilingual shelf labels in Moline
St. Mary’s Food Pantry operates at 412 10th St. in Moline from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The pantry has installed Spanish-English labels on its food shelves to make shopping easier for Spanish-speaking families. Current information does not confirm that a Spanish-speaking staff member or volunteer is available during every distribution, so families who need interpretation should call before visiting.
Sacred Heart Food Pantry is open five mornings a week in Rock Island
Sacred Heart Food Pantry operates from Rock Island Township Hall at 2827 7th Ave., Rock Island.

QC Mission distributes groceries twice a week in East Moline
QC Mission provides groceries at 2015 2 W Ave. in East Moline on Mondays from noon to 4 p.m. and Thursdays from noon to 5:30 p.m.
The organization also serves a free community meal Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
No ID or appointment requirement is listed for the pantry in the current program information. Families can call 309-281-1005 before visiting with questions about food availability or other services.
River Bend also schedules mobile food pantries each month
River Bend Food Bank operates temporary mobile and pop-up food distributions throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Locations and dates change each month.
As of Sept. 24, River Bend’s remaining September mobile pantry schedule does not list a distribution in Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, Rock Island or East Moline. Families should check the current River Bend mobile pantry schedule before traveling to a pop-up distribution.

Spanish forms are available for some Iowa food assistance
