WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Westbound Interstate 80 will close overnight between the Southwest Mixmaster and Jordan Creek Parkway beginning at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
The interstate is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, weather permitting. The closure includes westbound road and ramp restrictions along the affected section.
Jordan Creek Parkway is Exit 121. Drivers traveling through the area during the overnight work can expect delays.
Westbound I-80 will close for 8½ hours overnight
The closure is scheduled to last from 8:30 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday, a period of about eight and a half hours.
Crews will use the closure to complete asphalt and concrete pavement work on westbound I-80.
The schedule depends on weather conditions, which could change the timing of the work.

The affected westbound section begins at the Southwest Mixmaster and continues to Jordan Creek Parkway at Exit 121 in West Des Moines.
Road and ramp closures will be in place within the work area during the overnight construction.

Traffic will use a marked detour around the closed section
Traffic will be routed around the closure using a marked detour. The current detour map is included with the Iowa DOT information for the Sept. 17 closure.

Work-zone traffic fines are at least double
Traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in Iowa work zones. Posted speed limits and construction signs remain in effect through the work area.
The westbound I-80 closure is currently scheduled to end at 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, weather permitting.
