Des Moines, IA – All are welcome and invited to come join in the recognition and celebration of the upcoming 2024 Des Moines World Refugee Day!  

This will be the 11th year for the Des Moines World Refugee Day celebration. Originally designated by the United Nations, on June 20th of each year the world recognizes the journeys refugees make to come to their new homes and the large positive impact refugees and immigrants bring to their new communities.  

This event offers cultural performing artists from around the world, free food samples from many local refugee and immigrant owned restaurants and businesses, the highly anticipated Cup of All Nations Soccer Tournament, and a community resource fair with lots of children’s activities! 100% free to attend, all are welcome, with free transit being provided by DART all day with the use of the WRD QR code.

RACI is a voluntary membership network of service providers, government agencies, religious groups, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions that work together to better serve the needs of the growing refugee population in central Iowa.  We provide targeted assistance in the areas of health, housing, transportation, interpretation, education, legal along with advocacy at the federal, state, and local government levels.  

Mission: To increase awareness of and access to services, resources and programs so that refugees receive the maximum benefit as they resettle and become participatory citizens in central Iowa.
