After several years in Bettendorf, IA, Quad Cities’ oldest Hispanic festival VIVA Quad Cities returns to its place of origin, the city of Moline, IL.
This year the festival will be held on 11th Street and River Drive in Moline next to the iWireless Center. The festival will be on Saturday September 2, 2017 from 12pm to 10:30 PM.
VIVA Quad Cities teamed up with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to host this annual event. Together LULAC QC (Davenport and Moline LULAC Councils) and VIVA Quad Cities are dedicated to assisting area students achieve their college dream.
Hosted in Moline, the festival demonstrates the growing diversity and vitality of the Hispanic community in the Iowa/Illinois Quad-Cities. Food booths, arts, crafts and entertainment are highlights of the Fiesta. The various Hispanic cultures are represented at the event through vendors, exhibits, music, and food. VIVA Quad Cities Festival is a family-friendly event that is why special children’s areas and activities will be available during the first half of the day. For those who want to put on their salsa or cumbia shoes, the evening program features different Latino bands from the Midwest. Expect music from the Glenview Middle School Mariachi Band as well as a professional Mariachi Band and the headliner this year is Los Dragones de la Cumbia from Chicago, IL.
Come on down to VIVA QC Fiesta and join the celebration of Latino Heritage in the Quad Cities. The event will be on September 2, 2017 from 12pm to 10:30 PM on 11th Street and River Drive. in Moline next to the iWireless Center.
VIVA Quad Cities Fiesta is a non-profit organization that was established in 1994 and is the only fiesta of its kind between Des Moines, Chicago and Milwaukee that celebrates the vibrant Hispanic culture in the Quad Cities while raising funds for college scholarships. Since its establishment The Fiesta and organization have raised over $280,000 for scholarships and it continues growing and succeeding. Viva Quad Cities Fiesta is made possible through the outstanding support of numerous sponsors. Thanks to their kind donations, VIVA Quad Cities has grown to the event that is it is today. Also, the event could not take place if it weren’t for the hundreds of community volunteers that have donated their time over the years to make this exciting event a success.
