Camerina Gonzalez is active duty in the U.S. Army and has served honorably for over 8 years. She is an Iowa native, raised in Ottumwa & a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa. Soldier Gonzalez has stated in a government complaint that she was sexually assaulted by a fellow officer and was denied a rape kit after the sexual assault. We have been told by her family that her case has not been heard in a military court and six months have passed since the complaint was filed.
“We are concerned and we demand justice now. Soldier Gonzalez deserves legal representation now and the military must provide complete transparency.” said LULAC 307 president Joe Henry.
LULAC said Gonzalez has been denied a day in court and placed in lock up for several weeks at Fort Riley in Kansas.
“I am looking for an investigation to be carried out and for this man .. to be impugned because if he committed this such an act it is because he feels that nothing will happen to him.” said Milagros Gonzalez, the soldier’s sister, at today’s press conference held by LULAC 307.
We will have a follow up article with more details next week.
