The Quad Cities Mexican-American Organization invites the public to their annual debutante ball that celebrates the high school graduation of young Hispanic girls and those of Hispanic descent.  This event, which started back in 1982, supports Hispanic girls who wish to go on with their education and one day have a professional career and at the same time this event gives credit to their parents for helping them reach their goals.

This is a family event in which the young ladies’ fathers participate as their escorts and dance a father/daughter dance with them.  In a ceremony during the dance, the activities and the accomplishments these young girls have received during their high school careers are announced, showing the success of the Latino community.

So, if you’re in the twelfth grade and are of Hispanic descent, you can come to an informational meeting that will take place on Sunday, February 24 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Col Ballroom, 1012 4th St., Davenport, Iowa.  There, you can get more information about this event and the purpose of the organization.  You can fill out and return your registration form during the meeting.  There is no cost to participate.
