The Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train is traveling through Iowa for its 27th season.

Iowans can see the light-covered train on its journey across North America from Nov. 19 to Dec. 21. During that time, the CPKC Holiday Train will stop in 10 Iowa towns across three days.

What is the CPKC Holiday Train?

The holiday train traverses the transnational railway network in the United States and Canada. There will be 13 different musical artists performing along the tour. The festive train raises money and food for those with food insecurity, according to the company’s website. Each train is about 1,000 feet long and is made up of 14 decorated railcars.

It is free to see the CPKC Holiday Train. Attendees are invited to make donations in cash or give non-perishable food items if they can. Local food banks accept donations at each stop, according to CPKC.

Each stop features a brief concert and presentation from local food bank representatives. Attendees are asked to keep a safe distance from the train so it can continue on to the next stop.

Nov. 24

  • New Albin: Parking lot, new CPKC tracks on Great River Road between Ross Avenue and Oak Street from 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
  • Lansing: Ball Park Field on South Front Street between John Street and Dodge Street, 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Maruqette: Marina Parking Lot north of Casino Queen Marquette at Water Street and Iowa Highway 76, from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Guttenburg: East side of the Schiller Street railway crossing, 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Dubuque: Hawthorne Street railway crossing, corner of Hawthorne Street and Rohmberg Avenue, 9:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

Nov. 25

  • Bellevue: Horizon Lane Hall parking lot, corner of Jefferson Avenue and Elizabeth Street, 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
  • Clinton: 23rd Avenue to Grant Street, 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
  • Davenport: Western Avenue and West River Drive, 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Muscatine: River Side Park, Chestnut Street and Harbor Drive, 7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Nov. 26

  • Ottumwa: 1300 Wildwood Drive, 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
