According to Google Trends data, searches for “How to find black owned businesses in your area” saw a 300% spike from June 1 to June 2 in the United States, while searches for “Black owned restaurants near me” tripled.
Locally, the QC Empowerment Network’s Black Business Directory, was viewed, emailed and shared over 4000 times. With the cries for racial equality and support for the Black community reaching a fever pitch in the US, Black-owned businesses have been receiving more attention and love than ever before.
The QC Empowerment Network is hoping to push that momentum even further by hosting the first Open Air Market featuring Black Owned businesses in the Quad Cities. This is an opportunity to put your dollars where your protest is.
When you invest and purchase from a Black-owned business, what you’re really doing is strengthening the Black community. The Network wants to bring awareness to more Black-owned businesses and encourage people to not just buy from those businesses when it’s a trend. We want this to be more than just a one time thing. We want this to become a lifestyle.
The Open Air Market featuring Black Owned businesses will all take place THIS Sunday, July 26th from 4-7PM at the downtown Davenport Freight House Farmers Market. There is no fee. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
