“I have been in the daycare [business] since 1975,” Cindy Gomez shared. She has been running Give a Smile Daycare- for the past 10 years from her home.

She explained that in addition to her extensive experience she is also licensed by DCFS, has a child development degree from WIU and BHC and other credentials to provide quality childcare.   

The childcare Gomez runs has two assistants working with her. They require training in CPR and first aid. The assistants’ backgrounds have been vetted and they have the needed credentials. There is also a certified pre-K teacher that comes every day to teach children and get them ready for kindergarten.

Give A Smile Home Day Care has up to 12 children and the ages can range from 6 weeks to 12 years old. There are full time and part time slots available. According to Gomez in the near future there are plans to implement Head Start in her early daycare. Cindy Gomez also shared that she has experience working with children with special needs.   

Since the pandemic hit Gomez makes sure everything is sanitized and masks are used.

“I run a well-balanced daycare,” Gomez assured, adding that children under her care also get to eat nutritious meals three times a day.   

She explained she also tries to help parents by providing them with resources they might be looking for to improve their lives and the lives of their children.
