“The President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón, sent a letter to Senator Barack Obama  congratulating him on his victory in the U.S. Presidential election.

In that letter, President Calderón underlined the Mexican Government’s commitment to strengthening and deepening bilateral relations and working toward a better future for the region. He expressed his conviction that the relationship between both countries will enter a new period of progress based on a shared responsibility, open and respectful dialogue and mutual trust.

He commended the U.S. electoral process and its unprecedented voter turnout, as reaffirming the country’s democratic system.
