Demi Lovato will make sure fans can stay cool for the summer with a performance at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

Lovato, who became a household name as a teen star on Disney Channel in movies like “Camp Rock” and shows such as “Sonny with a Chance,” will make their Grandstand appearance at the Iowa State Fair at 8 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Since those Disney Channel days, Lovato has made a name as a pop star, releasing hits like “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Sorry Not Sorry.” Even as their focus moved to musical performance, however, Lovato has also continued to act on occasion, appearing on TV shows including “Will & Grace” and “Smurfs: The Lost Village.”

Lovato’s latest studio album, “Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over,” was released in April 2021 alongside a documentary, “Dancing With the Devil,” which spoke to the artist’s recovery from a 2018 overdose that brought them near-death after three strokes and a heart attack.

The artist has performed in Iowa before, notably in 2016 when visting Iowa City with then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, drawing a crowd of 1,700 to the University of Iowa’s Iowa Memorial Union.
