A pulse-pounding new chapter in the Alien universe kicked off in May with the release of Alien: Lost Transmission, a cinematic fan film that paid homage to the iconic sci-fi horror franchise. This short film, starring Latina actress Gabriella Fuentes, premiered free on YouTube on May 16th, delivering tension, isolation, and a relentless threat that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.

Aboard a secret Weyland-Yutani vessel, crewmates Colin and Naomi were trapped in a cramped maintenance room as a terrifying organism stalked the corridors, having already decimated the crew. With time running out, their only hope was to escape confinement and reach the ship’s escape bay before the creature found them. But survival was far from guaranteed… and something not human was hunting them.

Directed by Connor Botts and starring Fuentes, Benjamin Mayer, and Jacob Daniels, this Iowa production pushed the boundaries of fan filmmaking. Featuring an original score by Brian Bryson, the film masterfully leaned into Hitchcockian suspense, keeping its characters—and viewers—confined in a single space as tension mounted.

“This project was always about building fear through isolation,” said Botts. “We wanted to honor the roots of the Alien franchise while challenging ourselves with a tight, claustrophobic setting that forces character and suspense to take the lead.”

Fans were encouraged to subscribe to the SHADE 7 YouTube channel to view this film for free and for future original sci-fi content. Behind-the-scenes footage and updates are still available on the Alien: Lost Transmission Facebook page.

Alien: Lost Transmission is a non-profit fan film created out of passion and respect for the Alien franchise. All rights to Alien and its related properties belong to their respective owners. This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by the rights holders.
