With just a week’s notice, Montserrat “Conejo” Ruiz (9-1), originally from Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, will be the latest Invicta FC alum to make her UFC debut this weekend at UFC Vegas 22: Brunson vs. Holland on ESPN+ and ESPN. The Guanajuato native steps in to replace Kay Hansen and will face another former Invicta FC’r, Cheyanne Buys (5-1).
Ruiz is coming off a win last July over Janaisa Morandin at Invicta FC 41 and was scheduled for a title fight last November, but that fight was called off due to enhanced COVID-19 protocols. Ruiz’s debut will be at the UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, where the UFC has held most of their events during the pandemic.
