Silvis, IL- In just one week, the Online Community-Funding Campaign to raise money for A WORLD AWAY FROM HERO STREET: JOE GOMEZ’S STORY reached and exceeded its goal with the incredible support of two dozen donors.
The fundraising goal of $2,500 was doubled thanks to a generous cash match by Marc and Virginia Wilson*.
Two heroes from Hero Street served in the Korean War: Joseph Gomez and John Munos. A WORLD AWAY FROM HERO STREET: JOE GOMEZ’S STORY and THE LAST TO FALL FROM HERO STREET: JOHN MUNOS’ STORY will be told in the Fourth Wall Films’ multi-part documentary series HERO STREET and will premiere near Memorial Day 2025.
“You cannot help but be moved when standing at the peaceful Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. Seeing the names of John Munos and Joseph Gomez of Hero Street in Silvis, Illinois, and all who gave their lives serving during that war broke us,” Tammy Rundle, producer/writer, wrote in a social media post. “It is not easy for us to ask for support. We wish we could do it on our own, but we can’t.”
“Thank you to everyone who helped us reach and exceed our goal!” Kelly Rundle, director/writer, wrote. “Once again, our sincere gratitude to Marc & Ginny Wilson for their generous $2,600 match challenge. We are grateful to everyone for helping us tell Joseph Gomez’s personal story of service and sacrifice.”
The campaign ended with $3,145 raised, plus the additional $2,600 Wilson cash match, for a total of $5,645!
“We have received another smaller contribution/challenge so we plan to run another “community-funder” through the end of the year. We successfully funded the John Muños film, and we want to complete and premiere both Korean War story films together in 2025.” added director Kelly Rundle.
