Barbie might be known as all American girl, but this year Mattel (the company that makes Barbies) will celebrate the Day of the Dead with special kind of Barbie doll.

This year Mattel is rolling out Barbie made up as Catrina. This doll will be available starting on September 12 in Mexico. Although it is not known whether the dolls will be sold at any retail stores in the United States, those interested in buying this special doll would be able to buy it on some Internet stores that specialize in toys. A word of caution this Barbie comes with relatively high price tag.

This special Barbie will have her face painted as Catrina with gorgeous details and her hair will have marigolds or la flor de Los Muertos (flower of the dead). Her dress will be a stunning beauty designed with flowers, butterflies and traditional Day of the Dead skulls. This doll is pretty as a picture, and although it might be a bit expensive, it is a great representation of widely celebrated Mexican tradition known as the Day of the Dead and it could easily become a collectible item.
