For many Quad Cities families, Disney on Ice has become a tradition. It is a great way to kick off the most magical season of the year. This year Disney on Ice invites Quad Cities families for another great show full of wonder.

Disney on Ice presents Into the Magic from December 1 to December 4, 2022. Tickets are on sale now.

There are many skaters involved in this show, and many come from different parts of the world. Mario Castro is a skater working with Disney on Ice for about two decades. His story can serve as an inspiration to many. Born in Luz, Brazil, he didn’t even think that one day he would be skating on ice and this skill will take him not only to the United States but would also allow him to see the world.

Castro was a professional actor in Brazil. He was not someone who started skating at an early age. He got into skating when he was 28 years old. Skating is not an easily affordable sport, but he had a goal. He wanted to do it, and he put all his work and his heart into it. And soon, he found himself skating and performing with Disney on Ice. His first-ever production with Disney on Ice was Beauty and the Beast in the mid-90s. By now, he was involved in 15 productions with the company, and he proudly shared that he has been to every state and 83 different countries.

“I love to perform,” Castro said. “I love skating.”

He added that he enjoys bringing Disney characters to life on ice. Having experience as an actor helps him to do just that.

Castro hopes that his story could serve as an inspiration to others. As someone who started skating later in life, he did not give up and became a skater.

“Work for it,” Castro advised. “Don’t wait for it to fall from the sky.”

Even now, he keeps on studying, learning, and improving.

As for the new production coming to the Quad Cities this week, Castro said it will be magical and invited everyone to come out and enjoy the show.

“This is not only for kids. It is for whole families,” he said, inviting whole families to Disney on Ice.

He shared that there will be journeys through different stories. The audience can expect everybody’s favorite princesses like Cinderella and Rapunzel. The audience will also be transported to a colorful and mystical land of the Dead from Coco. Belle from Beauty and the Beast will let everyone take a peek into her world, and of course, everyone’s favorite winter sisters from Frozen will make an appearance as well. And indeed, audiences will greatly enjoy  looking into the beautiful world of Moana.
