It is with great sadness to announce the passing of LULAC Youth Member, Sage Wilson from Albuquerque, NM. Sage passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 from a rare form of asthma. She was involved in many of the programs offered through LULAC and LNESC. She was in the LNESC Upward Bound program since her freshmen year, a Ford Driving Dreams through Education student since her junior year, a 2013 Washington Youth Leadership Seminar participant, and attended the 2014 LULAC Youth Pre-Convention program at Princeton University.

Sage had dreams of attending UCLA and becoming a plastic surgeon. She was extremely focused and challenged herself academically; she was enrolled in two AP classes and an honors course. Her mentors describe her as one of the most hard working students- she maintained a 3.5 GPA and had already been accepted into the University of New Mexico’s Pre-Medical program.

“It is a devastating loss to our community to lose such a bright young leader at such an early age. I am saddened by this news and ask for the membership to show their support for this young lady’s family,” stated LULAC National President, Margaret Moran.
