LULAC Seeks Queen Contestants


LULAC Council #10 is accepting applications for the Annual Fiesta Queen from young women of Latina descent from age 15 to 21 years of age. Contestants must be single and never have experienced motherhood. Young women interested in competing should contact Henry Vargas, 323-4088, The LULAC Fiesta will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 to celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spain. Crowning of the Queen is the highlight of the Fiesta. The Queen who is selected will reign over all LULAC social events of 2008.

Funds from the Fiesta are used to grant scholarships to entering college freshmen. LULAC Council 10 has granted 682 scholarships totaling $372,606, since 1978. The League of United Latin American Citizens, better known as LULAC is the largest, oldest and most successful Hispanic civil rights and service organization in the United States.
