Council #10 of the League of United Latin American Citizens, (LULAC) Davenport, Iowa, announced today that students may now apply for this year’s scholarship starting January 31, 2015. This year the scholarship program is open to entering freshmen and upper classmen residing in the Quad Cities area.
Scholarships applications are available from area high school counselors, online at www.lulac10.org or LULAC Scholarship Committee Chairman Matthew Casillas 563 – 381-7807. The deadline for submitting the applications is March 31, 2015 with no exceptions. Submit all applications to: LULAC Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4616, Davenport, IA 52808-4616. Scholarship awards are based on grades and academic performance; however, emphasis may be placed on the individual’s motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which can best be revealed through a personal essay. Need, community involvement, and leadership activities will also be considered.
LULAC has considered education its number one priority since it was established
in 1929. LULAC Council 10 of Davenport has awarded over four hundred and thirty thousand in scholarships since 1975. Council #10 raises funds locally through weekly Friday Night Bingo, Trivia Nights, operations at its Activity Center, the annual LULAC Fiesta queen contest fundraiser, an annual Golf outing, and from corporate and individual sponsors and donations. Local funds are submitted to the LULAC National Scholarship Fund, (LNSF) for matching funds. Donations to Council 10 of LULAC may be sent to: LULAC Council 10, P.O. BOX 4616, and
