September 16 is celebrated in honor of Mexico’s Independence from Spain. Every year LULAC

celebrates this day with a big party and this year is not an exception. As it was in the past this year there will be a lot of fun and of course, there will be the traditional coronation of the Fiesta Queen 2012.

LULAC invites everyone to celebrate Mexican Independence Day and meet the new Fiesta Queen on Saturday September 15, 2012. The celebration will be from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM at the LULAC center located on 4224 Ricker Hill Road, Davenport. There will be a delicious dinner provided by El Mariachi restaurant. After the dinner guests will be able to enjoy a great entertainment program. There will be El Mariachi de Colores, QC Ballet Folklorico and music by Los Mocambos. The tickets’ price is $20.

Every year LULAC, League of United Latin American Citizens, gives scholarships to Hispanic students who earn good grades in school and are active in the community. As the largest active LULAC Council # 10 in the Midwest, this Council has given out more than $400,000 in scholarships to 700 students of the Quad Cities area.
