The East Moline community has come together once again to help raise money to better its parks.  The third annual Baile Del Sol took place on Saturday, July 26th in downtown East Moline.  Nacho Gonzalez, the fundraiser coordinator, says this dance helps bring families together for a safe and festive night filled with food, live music, and dancing.  This year’s fiesta featured piñatas, games for the kids, and music by Sabor Latino.

Baile Del Sol, sponsored by Los Cuates Sports Bar, raised $1,500 for Amigos De Garfield Park.  With the help of the East Moline Park Board, dozens of volunteers and Baile Del Sol’s donations Garfield Park has begun construction of a new pavilion, and there are now possibilities of new playground equipment for the park.  Mr. Gonzalez’s Baile Del Sol so far has risen over $4,000 for Garfield Park.  Mr. Gonzalez says that the community has been very grateful for the event.

“My customers come into Los Cuates and tell me how they have read about what we have done in the newspapers and that they think it’s a great thing my business is giving back to the community,”  Mr. Gonzalez said.

Nacho wishes to thank the following sponsors for their support:  Hola America, Trinity Health System, IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union, Maynard Ellison Insurance, Legacy Graphics, and all of the volunteers because without them, none of this would be possible. This event is great proof that the community always wins when city government, community volunteers, and businesses come together to raise money and awareness for a good cause.
